AS 30th anniversary preparations ramp up for next year, Oceanside Little Athletics is now more visible in the community.

The club was recently given permission to erect a sign at its training facility at Korella Park in Mullaloo, giving the club more exposure to passers-by.

The installation comes as registrations for the 2019-20 summer season open on September 7.

Newly appointed president Kurt Graham said the club formed in 1990 because of overwhelming numbers in the Hamersley district.

Starting with 85 members, Oceanside would service the Ocean Reef and Mullaloo areas.

Since then, membership has fluctuated, with 65 members signed up last year ranging from seven to 17 years old and an even mix of boys and girls.

“Our motto is family, fun, fitness,” Mr Graham said.

“We are family focused and try to make training hard but enjoyable where the kids are pushed to try do their personal bests.

“All the competitions are personal best-based, which helps the kids to enjoy the day a lot better.”

Training is Mondays and Thursdays from 4.30pm to 6pm, with the Hamersley district hosting competitions on Saturdays.

Hamersley Little Athletics will host an information session on September 7, where representatives from Oceanside will also be available to answer any questions.

It will run from 3.30pm to 5pm at Charles Riley Reserve in North Beach.

Interested athletes can also try two training sessions and one competition before committing to the full season.
