ASPIRING young swimmers gained a glimpse into their possible futures when they farewelled Olympic-bound swimmer Blair Evans in Craigie last week.

As a member of the Northern High Performance Training Squad, Evans regularly trains alongside Breakers Swim Club members at Craigie Leisure Centre.

The 25-year-old Olympic Games silver medallist and former Sacred Heart College student signed autographs and was presented with a good luck card from the club.

Evans has overcome injuries to make the Australian team heading to Rio de Janeiro, where she will compete in the 400m individual medley.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said he was confident Evans would do her country proud.

“A wonderful role model, Blair’s regular presence at Craigie Leisure Centre has no doubt inspired others, particularly youngsters, to pursue their own Olympic dreams,” he said.

“On behalf of our community, I wish Blair all the best for Rio and hope she can achieve her goal of an Olympic final.”

The 2016 Olympics run from August 5 to 21, with Evans set to race on August 6.
