SBL: Joondalup Wolves in contrasting Mandurah Magic clashes

Mandurah’s men’s team is last on the ladder, having not won a game, while its women’s side has won its first five contests and leads the league.

The Lady Wolfpack face their most important clash of the season against the Magic at Joondalup Basketball Stadium, particularly after losing their last two matches.

The Lakeside Lightning defeated the Wolves 81-71 in Joondalup on Friday, sending the hosts down from fourth to fifth on the table.

The Wolves had no answer for Lakeside’s US import Ali Schwagmeyer, who hit 38 points.

Klara Wischer top scored for Joondalup with 19 points, while Ellyce Ironmonger took a game-high 16 rebounds.

In the men’s league, third-placed Joondalup will be expected to take its third straight win when it faces the winless Magic.

The Wolves easily accounted for Lakeside 98-78, led by Trian Iliadis’s 19 points.

Rob Huntington took a team-high eight rebounds.
