Last year the Sorrento round attracted a record-breaking 1074 participants and registrations are already almost at that figure for this year’s event.

Olympian Blair Evans will chaperone the next generation of WA swimmers, as seven to nine-year-olds try open water swimming for the first time in a special splash and dash course designed for them.

Other distances include 500m, 1.25km, 2.5km, 5km and 10km.

New Town Toyota will give away beach balls on the day and there will be free beach activities, including beach volley ball, totem tennis, inflatable obstacle course and giveaways.

Round nine will take place in Alkimos on February 3.
