WHITFORDS cricketer Jess Emery has made WA’s 13-player squad for this month’s under-18 female national championships in Canberra.
WA, who finished sixth last year, will be skippered by Melville’s Niamh Walsh, with club team-mate and South-West product Meg Thompson her vice-captain.
Orazio Santalucia will coach WA in the tournament, which runs from January 13-19.
“This squad has worked well since the end of August and has developed pleasingly over this time,” Santalucia said.
“There has been some significant development in a lot of the squad and they have been consistent performers in club cricket which puts them in good stead for the upcoming championships.
“I see definite future Fury and Scorchers players in this squad and I look forward to this step in their development pathway.”
WA’s first game is against ACT/NSW Country.
