TWO northern suburbs sporting clubs will benefit from $132,000 in Federal funding to upgrade and improve facilities.

The Joondalup Bowling Club has been granted $89,359 to build an amenities block within the fenced boundary of the bowling greens area for the convenience of bowlers, spectators and supporters.

The Edgewater Cricket Club will receive $42,500 to install floodlights in the cricket nets at Emerald Park to improve training conditions during evening sessions.

“We hope this project encourages increased usage of the cricket nets by the community,” president Clint Chester said.

The funding is part of the Community Sport Infrastructure Grant program that is upgrading local facilities across Australia, helping to drive increased participation in sports and physical activity.

The funding follows the announcement of $500,000 from the same program towards the development of a health and wellbeing hub at Whitfords Nodes Park in Hillarys.
