WA Premier Cricket: Joondalup eyes top six

Staff WriterJoondalup Times

A THIRD straight win for Joondalup could have the team inside the WA Premier Cricket top six after its upcoming match against Perth.

The Centurions were bottom of the table in the middle of last month, but two straight wins have sent them to ninth.

Joondalup would at least usurp the seventh-placed Demons with a first innings win in the two-day contest beginning Saturday at Iluka. And the side could end up sixth should Melville (sixth) and Bayswater-Morley (eighth) both lose.

An outright victory could send them even higher.

The side looked in fine form on day two against Scarborough on Saturday with Garrick Morgan (195) and Tim Zsilinszky (122) putting on a mammoth 262-run third wicket stand at Abbett Park.

The pair steered Joondalup past the hosts’ 256, with the side 3-340 when Zsilinszky was dismissed. Morgan then combined with brother Jaron, the pair boosting the score to 416 before the older Morgan was dismissed and Joondalup declared.
