WA Premier Cricket: Joondalup out of cellar ahead of Scarborough clash

Staff WriterJoondalup Times

JOONDALUP will hope they’ve left the bottom of the table behind them as they head into this weekend’s WA Premier Cricket clash against Scarborough.

The Centurions were 16th from 16 teams last weekend before moving up four places to 12th after a win against Bayswater Morley.

Scarborough has been having its own troubles and is 15th off the back of one win and five losses ahead of the clash at Abbett Park.

Last Saturday against the Bears, the Centurions began the day at 1-58 with Clint Hinchliffe and Andrew South at the crease chasing 172 at Iluka.

Hinchliffe was dismissed for 45 while South followed soon after, leaving the home side on 3-96.

But Joondalup was rarely troubled for the rest of the run chase, taking the lead for the loss of four wickets] after a 76-run partnership from Josh Inglis (36) and Jaron Morgan (40).

Joondalup’s weekend ended on a sour note at the same venue with an 18-run Premier T20 loss to group D leaders Claremont-Nedlands on Sunday.

The Centurions restricted the Tigers to 133 but fell short at 6-115 after 20 overs.
