WA Premier Cricket two-day encounters begin for Joondalup against Melville on Saturday and the Centurions are coming off some fine form with the bat.
Joondalup exploited the bat-friendly conditions of its home deck to thrash Subiaco Floreat by nine wickets last weekend.
The Lions would have been comfortable with their 4-277 in the one-day match at Iluka, but openers Michael Swart and Jaron Morgan dismantled the visitors’ bowlers with a 234-run opening stand.
Swart remained unbeaten on 100, with Morgan falling for 139 off 118 balls, including six sixes and 12 fours.
Clint Hinchliffe struck three sixes in a quickfire 34 to help his side to victory in the 44th over.
WA paceman Jason Behrendorff could not inflict any damage for the Lions, going for 39 runs off seven overs without taking a wicket.
Andrew Holder (1-68) had Morgan caught in his side’s only scalp.
Joondalup’s Ty Hopes (1-42) and Swart (1-8) took a wicket each with both openers, Alex Malcolm (61) and Calum How (79), run out.
