WAFL: fringe West Perth players under pressure to perform against Swan Districts

Bill MonaghanJoondalup Times

OUR third spot is confirmed for the finals but we still need to show Swan Districts respect in our last WAFL game of the season at Arena Joondalup on Saturday.

The team is under pressure to perform. Positions in the side are tight so a poor effort could see a player replaced for the qualifying final against South Fremantle next weekend.

We’ve got up to 27 players available for selection, so whoever earns a spot cannot just go through the motions.

Shane Nelson will miss another week as he recovers from his facial injury, while Tyler Keitel and Steve Potente will also not play.

Keitel rolled his ankle early in our last game against Claremont.

While he could probably play if we needed him to, we’ll allow the injury an extra week’s rest.Potente’s in a similar position with a sore groin; he could probably play but we’ll err on the side of caution.

We expect Laine Rasmussen, Joel Leeson and Joe Morrow to return after missing the Claremont game.

Matt Guadagnin will feature in the reserves having not played against the Tigers.

We won’t know if he can be considered for our finals side until after this weekend.
