WEST Perth’s new clubhouse at Arena Joondalup will feature vertical louvres similar to the award-winning ECU Joondalup library.

Guests at the club president’s lunch ahead of the Falcons-Perth clash last Saturday were the first to see the yet-to-be-signed-off plans, flashed up on the screen.

JCY Architects principal architect Will Thomson said the Falcons headquarters and associated works was a project “we’ve been delighted to pick up and deliver”.

the “quite striking two-storey building” would have a curved roof in line with the Whinnen-Dempsey Stand and the arena’s main building, also designed by JCY along with the ECU library.

“These louvres are pieces of covered aluminium there to help prevent sun entry on the south-west,” Mr Thomson said.

“They also create a great architectural element to define the building.”

There will be a link bridge from the club and Venues West’s current function area to the upper level of the new building, which is due for completion September 2017.The ground floor will have reception and administration areas, ticketing booth, merchandise sales, ground entry, small lecture theatre, changerooms and gym.

The second floor will include a lobby lounge for club memorabilia and a function room for 450 people.
