WHITFORD Hockey Club players had their first run on their new turf at an open day on April 1.

Each team was allocated a time to try out the new facilities at the Warwick Hockey Centre, with more than 500 members and their families attending.

Recently retired Kookaburra and five-time International Player of the Year Jamie Dwyer was also at the event to open his merchandise store JDH.

The hockey club has now moved all home games and training sessions to the new facility, which has a 250-seat function room with two bar facilities and commercial kitchen.

The City of Joondalup along with Hockey WA and Whitford Hockey Club will officially open the centre on July 2.
