Allen’s is holding an election to decide if cola frogs or unicorns will be its new lolly

Staff WriterMidland Kalamunda Reporter

Allen’s is holding an important “Loll-ection” and unlike the Federal election, the winner of this vote will still be on the shelf in 12 months time.

The fight between the two sweet candidates – cola frogs and unicorns began today – with a nationwide vote determining which will become the next Allen’s icon and land on shelves in February.

The iconic frog lolly has been revamped with a classic cola flavour while the mixed unicorn lollies taste of apple and blackberry, or strawberry and peach, grapefruit and pineapple.

Allen’s spokeswoman Margaret Stuart said it was hard to choose between the two flavours.

“Cola is an already established flavour, but I do like the unicorns they’re reminiscent of the cream lollies,” she said.

“One of the things we find at Allen’s is a lot of adults feel really strongly about lollies and we have lots asking for a particular lolly.

“We do get situations where people love one flavour which is why the lolly vote is important.”

The online vote will be open here for one week only, with polls closing at 1pm on Monday, January 21 and the winner announced on Wednesday, January 23.
