Alleged bat-wielding man charged over assault

A MAN has been charged over a serious assault of a woman in her 50s, involving a metal baseball bat.

It will be alleged the man confronted the victim, photographer Heather Thorning, and struck her with a metal baseball bat at the Lesmurdie Falls carpark at about 6.30am on September 12.

Police said the man then left the area in a red car.

The 29-year-old from Maida Vale was charged with intent to harm, did an act causing bodily harm.

He will appear in the Midland Magistrates Court today.
