Man in critical condition after highway crash

A MAN was taken to hospital for serious injuries after a crash on a major highway in Forrestfield this morning.

Major Crash officers are investigating the crash, which occurred on Roe Highway prior to the off ramp of Berkshire Road at about 7.55am.

A silver Toyota Celica hatchback and a red and grey Ford Maverick were travelling west on the highway when they clipped each other just prior to the ramp.

The Toyota Celica collided with a white Volvo Truck.

A 54-year-old man, the driver of the Toyota, received serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

A St John Ambulance spokesperson said he was in a critical condition.

The 18-year-old driver of the Ford and the 47-year-old driver of the truck were not injured.

Roe Highway, between Kalamunda Road and Berkshire Road, was closed for several hours.
