THE City of Kalamunda is calling for comment on a draft Public Open Space Strategy to meet the sporting, recreation and conservation needs of the community and local environment in the future.

The Strategy will form a component of the City’s new Local Planning Strategy 2018, which will provide direction for areas of housing, activity centres, environmental planning, planning incorporating industrial zones, infrastructure and servicing.

Mayor John Giardina said the vision of the strategy was to provide the City with a network of fit-for-purpose parkland that protected the natural resources and met community need.

“We want to promote and support Liveable Neighbourhoods with our public open space so everyone can access and enjoy the beautiful surroundings here,” he sad.

“Well-designed open spaces deliver a wide range of benefits to the wider community who use public open spaces.

“We seek to provide high quality and accessible recreational facilities and social spaces.”
