THE Midland office of Crosslinks is celebrating 20 years of supporting people with disability and their families.

One of the many events planned to celebrate the achievement and as part of the celebration of Carers Week is a dinner for carers called “An Evening For Me”.

With support from Carers WA, Lotterywest and a grant from St John of God Community Wellbeing, the three-course dinner will be held at a winery in Caversham on Wednesday, October 19.

It promises to be a very special evening where the many parents and carers who are supporting a family member with a disability at home are thanked for their contribution, dedication and love.

There will be guest speakers from Carers WA and Future Living and a presentation on the process of transition when a family member with disability moves into a supported living home. Crosslinks will provide support where requested for the family member with disability in their own home while their carer has the evening off.

One of the outcomes from the evening will be to form a carer support group that will concentrate on the physical and emotional wellbeing of carers.
