Police appeal for suspicious bushfire

POLICE are appealing for information over a bushfire they believed was deliberately lit in Forrestfield.

Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating a bushfire which occurred at about 5pm on Wednesday.

The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious and it is believed the fire started in bushland opposite Dawson Avenue near Hicks Street.

Strike Force Vulcan detectives would like to speak to the riders of two white trail bikes that were seen in the bushland area just prior to the fire.

Police said one bike also had a pillion passenger.

Any members of the public who were driving in the area around the time of the fire who have dash-cam vision is asked to come forward.

Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
