SPRING Road Community Kindergarten (SRCK) is holding it annual open day on Sunday, May 20.

SRCK committee member Kylie Bullo said many hills residents were unaware of the kindy, which she described as a “hidden gem”.

“This stunning, purpose-built kindergarten is just around the corner from the Kalamunda Library,” she said.

“We are a play-based kindergarten, giving children the opportunity to learn through play, in a nurturing and informal setting, away from primary school schedules and procedures.”

Ms Bullo said the kindy had a strong emphasis on outdoor play to develop fundamental movement skills, imaginative play, experimentation, investigation, social interaction and to build a solid foundation for their future primary school years.

“The educators are fully qualified teachers employed by the Department of Education, and children learn from the national curriculum, as they do in school-based kindergartens,” she said.

“The open day is the perfect opportunity to come along and see what this wonderful and very affordable local kindergarten has to offer.”
