Students on the pace at Lesmurdie Le Mans go-cart competition

PRIMARY school students from Kalamunda, Lesmurdie, Walliston and Falls Road took part in the 11th annual Lesmurdie Le Mans go-cart competition last month.

Falls Road teacher Nigel Bennett said the track meet had become a major event on the hills schools’ calendar.

“Twenty teams worked with teachers and some eager dads to produce five go carts per school,” he said.

“The go-carts went head to head in heats, with a simple point for places system.

“Pit crews from each school team were on standby, modifying and tweaking the go-carts between each race.”

Mr Bennett said after the heats, and the knockout stage the final race came down to the final four.

“After some exciting racing, thrills, and spills The Demons proved that keeping it simple pays off, by taking out line honours, and the Lesmurdie Le Mans Trophy for 2017.
