Football: Kalamunda Cougars lose close one to North Beach

THE Kalamunda Cougars league team went down in a close game at North Beach on Saturday, having beat the previously unbeaten University the week before.

North Beach came out of the blocks firing and were the better team in the first half leading by 5 goals at the break.

Kalamunda clawed their way back into the game but eventually went down 12.12-84 to 10.11-71.

Giles Dent was best on ground and Brett Van Groningen influential off half back.

The Reserves again showed they are close to taking a big A Reserves scalp just falling short to a seasoned team by 19 points 8.14-62 to 6.7-43.

Justin Van was brilliant again adjudged best on with Beau ‘Twang’ Barratt alongside him.

The Colts fought hard again but couldn’t match it with the stronger opponent evenually going down 18.13.121 to 2.0.12, with midfielder Adam Brescacin best on for Kalamunda.

In the E1 game against Bullcreek Leeming Matt Van Herk and big Jay Preece were dominant, as they continued on their winning ways with another impressive win 10.7-67 to 4.10.34, to remain outright third on the ladder.
