Fairy tale artwork features in Wearable Art Mandurah

A FAIRY tale inspired artwork by Bertram resident Jacq Chorlton has entered in the movement category of the Wearable Art Mandurah Awards showcase.

“It is called Il etait une fois, which translates from the French into Once upon a time,” Chorlton said.

“This piece is inspired by both Sleeping Beauty and Little Red Riding Hood.

“Both of these stories were rewritten by French author Charles Perrault.

“Originally fairy tales were written for adults; they were gory, frightening, horrific tales, many with a strong moral.

“I created my piece mainly in black to reflect the darkness of the stories.

“The corset is an open pop-up book, a forest growing out from it leading up to a diorama of a forest on the headpiece.”
