Vanessa SchmittWeekend Kwinana Courier

MURDER mystery Murder on the Nile is set to confound theatre lovers at Koorliny Arts Centre this month.

Directed by Kim Angus, the second production in the Koorliny Arts Centre and Kwinana Industries Council 2018 Performance Season is based on Agatha Christie’s 1937 novel Death on the Nile.

Christie wrote the play in 1944, bringing new audiences a tale of a honeymoon gone wrong, stalking, airtight alibis and multiple motives.

Heiress Kay Ridgeway has led a charmed life, blessed with beauty, enormous wealth, and a new husband.

But her idyllic honeymoon voyage down the Nile is shattered by a shocking and brutal murder that soon puts all the passengers under scrutiny.

Everyone on board has a reason to kill and everyone looks more than a little shady; both audience and characters wonder ‘did-he or did-she’ as clues are stockpiled in a quest to solve the classic whodunit.

Angus says audiences can expect a ‘30s-era stylised version of the play, as well as plenty of interesting and suspicious characters – ‘Agatha Christie always has very interesting characters’.
