A POPULAR a capella choir will sing at the Hotel Clipper in Rockingham on May 4.

The Rhythmos choir was founded in 2013 with 14 academics and students by Dr Jonathan Paxman, a senior lecturer in Curtin’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Rhythmos had 25 singers by the time it was invited to perform at a concert in New York’s iconic Carnegie Hall in April last year.

Growing interest prompted 1000 people to audition to join Rhythmos, which has more recently sung at the past two Perth Fringe Festivals.

Mr Paxman played two instruments as a youngster and became involved in choral music at Cambridge University when completing his PhD.

The choir is being brought to Rockingham by the Rotary Club of Palm Beach, and $30 tickets will include light refreshments.

The Clipper’s bar will also be open on the night.

To book the 7pm performance, call Raelene Heston 0488 357 104 or Brian Stanley of 9527 8393, or email raelene.heston@bigpond.com.
