Aerial crews called in to fight out-of-control Kwinana bush fire

UPDATE 5.54pm: The fire is now under control and remains stationary.

A lot of smoke remains in the area and motorists should drive carefully.

Firefighters are at the scene, patrolling the area and mopping up – 50 Career Fire and Rescue Service, Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service firefighters are attending.

4.57pm: RESIDENTS living in Kwinana have been told to leave their homes or get ready to defend them after an out-of-control bushfire began burning this afternoon.

The fire started near the intersection of Mandogalup Road and Norkett Road in Hope Valley.

This warning applies to residents living between Sayer Road to the north, Kwinana Freeway to the east, Anketell Road to the south and Postans Road to the west.

The fire is burning Mandogalup Road and is moving in a north-easterly direction.

Mandogalup Road is closed between Anketell Road and Sayer Road.

Firefighters are at the scene and aerial support has been sent in to assist ground crews.
