Second body found in water off Rockingham

UPDATE 1:07pm: Divers from Water Police have located a boat and a deceased male person believed to be a man in his 70’s.

The man has not been formally identified.

Yesterday, the body of an 81-year-old man was found near Rockingham, while a search was undertaken for the man in his 70s who was missing at sea.

Boating debris was found floating in the water about 5pm on Monday, and the man’s body was found later on the beach near Penguin Island.

The circumstances surrounding the death are unknown, but police believe the pair were on a 4.5m aluminium dingy.

The search for the missing man resumed near Shoalwater Bay this morning, involving units from Volunteer Marine Rescue, Air support, SES and Water Police.
