Bushfire threatening lives and homes south of Perth

A BUSHFIRE is threatening lives and homes near Kwinana in Perth’s southern suburbs.

A bushfire ‘watch and act’ has been issued for people in an area bounded by Thomas Road to the south, Kwinana Freeway to the east, Mandogalup Road, Postans Road and Abercrombie Road in Mandogalup and The Spectacles in the City of Kwinana.

The bushfire is moving slowly in a northeasterly direction.

Firefighters are on the scene and residents are being urged to leave or prepare to actively defend their properties.

A number of roads have been closed including Anketell Road at Abercrombie Road, Thomas Road and McLaughlin Road and Mandogalup Road at Anketell Road.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.
