POLICE and emergency services are at the scene of a chimney fire at BHP’s Kwinana refinery.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said 12 fire fighting appliances were on the scene.

The fire took hold in the chimney of a decommissioned plant.

Workers were evacuated from the refinery.

Road closures are in place affecting Claymore Street, Charles Street and Patterson Road.

Police are managing traffic in the area.

The fire has been contained and controlled.
