FOOD truck events will be popping up across the cities of Kwinana and Rockingham until November to raise funds for Relay for Life.

Relay for Life Kwinana chair Nicole Tallowin said the sites for the food truck events include Wellard Park – bounded by Homestead Road and Wellard Road – Rockingham’s Bell Park; Waikiki’s Fantasy Park; Port Kennedy’s Veterans Memorial Park; the Steel Tree Park in Baldivis; and Golden Bay foreshore.

She said this was the first year the events were roaming around in different locations, and proceeds would go to Relay for Life Kwinana.

The Tallowin family uses the food truck events as the fundraising tool for their team which participates in the Relay in October.

In three years, they’ve raised $20,000 for the cause.

The Tallowin’s have even got a themed food truck event in the planning stages, promising to have customers salivating when it’s time ‘For the Love of Bacon’.

“We usually have eight to 10 trucks, including dessert and coffee, and provide tables and chairs, singers come in, there’s a kids bouncy castle and a tower light,” Mrs Tallowin said.

“A $3 sausage sizzle is also available, there’s usually a pizza guy, and there will be a merchandise tent, raffle tickets and donations tins to help support Relay for Life.”

The first event in Port Kennedy attracted about 300 people.

While stormy weather forced the cancellation of some recent events, Waikiki Fantasy Park is set to host the food trucks next on June 16 from 4.30pm.

The food trucks will be in Wellard on June 29 at 4.30pm, and at Bell Park at 3pm on June 30.
