A NEW Coles market-style supermarket was unveiled in Kwinana on October 25.

Store manager David Drew said the new store had boosted employment for the area, with 50 new employees recruited.

The opening brought back memories for Singleton resident Audrey Steel, who was at the opening of Coles at Kwinana Hub in the early 1970s.

“I was in my early 30s and went in a Grocerython competition,” she said. “After a shop, they pulled my docket and five others out.

“We had 10 minutes to fill up a trolley. My full trolley came to $59.26.”
