NOMINATIONS are open for young people to be recognised by the City of Kwinana’s Leadership Youth Respect in Kwinana (LyriK) Awards.

Youth aged 10 to 18 years can be nominated for the awards by any member of the community.

Six categories offer a $250 incentive prize, and each winner also receives a $50 contribution to a charity of their choice.

The categories include Respect, Leadership, Inspiration, Achievement, Teamwork and Mateship.

Mayor Carol Adams said the LyriK program had been offered for more than 12 years and helped to develop a positive youth culture in the City of Kwinana.

“It is important that we recognise young people when they excel, to enhance their sense of pride and encourage them to keep up the good work,” she said.

Nominations close June 3 and the awards night will be held on June 21.
