Medina Community Festival celebrates community spirit and local talent

THE theme of this year’s Medina Community Festival is celebrating community spirit and showcasing local talent.

Co-ordinated by the Medina Residents Group, the festival will feature a Welcome to Country by Elder Lindsay Calyun.

Entertainment includes a percussion team, which will engage the audience in the beat of the drum. The wealth of talent of young people will be front and centre with performances by the Medina Primary School Choir and the amazing dancing of the Yonga Boys.

There will be a combined performance of Gilmore College students featuring the 7 Nation Army rock band and the hip-hop dance moves of Shaquille Walker.

Medina songstress Sian Brown will perform some well known numbers and Te Roopu Rangatahi o Ngaru Pou group will have the crowd on their feet with its amazing Maori cultural haka.
