POSSIBLE sites for an expanded container port will be discussed at a public event in Kwinana on Saturday, June 15, but maps and details for the Kwinana scenarios will not be shared say the organisers.

Greater detail, however, for the Fremantle and Bunbury options was presented at recent public events organised by the Westport Taskforce in other local government areas.

Community News was told the Kwinana maps were not available due to timeframes and “lots of technical information that would require lengthy explanations”.

“With 25 options, it would have been information overload and not suitable for these community sessions,” a spokeswoman said.

“We also needed to have all the details of the long-list endorsed by Westport’s governing committees before we could make the full details public.”

Seventeen scenarios of the long-list of 25 scenarios involve Kwinana.

The long-list of will be cut to a short-list of just a handful of possibilities in July – after the public events for the long-list have concluded.

Organisers indicated the maps and details of the Kwinana scenarios should be released to the public before the short-list is announced.
