Push for CCTV at Point Peron

The resident sent photos of a burnt- out car to South Metropolitan MLC Phil Edman to show how some people were treating the area.

“This was a sad, sickening sight to see on Anzac Day at Point Peron,” he said. “I have a deep passion for this area and get a sickening feeling in the guts every time I see something like this.

“I know there are plans to renovate the K Battery restoration project at Point Peron.

“I also know there are (at least) some discussions on the table about CCTV cameras at Point Peron.”

The resident said the burnt-out car on the side of the road was not a great welcome for tourists.

Mr Edman has been campaigning for CCTV at Point Peron.

He hopes to get three cameras installed, but they may cost up to $50,000.

He said the land was owned by the Department of Parks and Wildlife and he hoped funding might be available in the upcoming State Budget.
