Rockingham man happy to help homeless with soup challenge

But after experiencing troubles with his partner and becoming unemployed, he said goodbye to his high-paying salary and hello to homelessness.

Mr Shapiera and his son were homeless for more than two years.

He made his way over to WA where he found Darrel Wilson from The Salvation Army.

Mr Wilson helped Mr Shapiera and his son get back on their feet through the Street to Home Program, which provides food and basic needs.

To give back, Mr Shapiera took on the seven-day Souperhero challenge, which ran from July 25 to 31.

On Tuesday last week, he served soup to help raise money for struggling Australian families who are living on less than $17 per day.

People can make donations to the challenge by visiting souper hero.org.au.
