Rockingham: man’s Pokemon hunt ends in $500 fine

Viet-Hieu William Hu pleaded guilty to carrying a prohibited weapon and possessing drug paraphernalia with methamphetamine on it during his appearance.

The prosecutor said police stopped a car in Anketell on September 26. After searching it, they found a small throw knife in Hu’s pocket.

Hu told police he carried the knife for protection when he went looking for Pokemons.

Police also found a glass pipe with methamphetamine traces on it.

Hu told police he used it to smoke methamphetamine.

Along with the fine, Magistrate Leanne Atkins ordered destruction of the knife and glass pipe.
