FOUR parachutists missed the drop zone and landed in the water off Rockingham at the weekend.

Two of them needed to be rescued by search and rescue crews.

At 3.30pm on Saturday, Water Police issued a call to rescue boats that parachutists had entered the water off Rockingham.

Rescue vessel Assure from Cockburn Volunteer Sea Search and Rescue responded to the call.

After a short search they found the parachutes.

Shortly after, they found two people in the water.

They were able to get both parachutists on board.

Neither was injured, but both showed signs of hypothermia and shock.

The other two parachutists landed closer to shore and were able to make land unaided.

A waiting ambulance assessed all four.
