Rockingham: Sensory Santa to provide special touch this Xmas

A SENSORY Santa will be at Rockingham Centre for families with special needs to enjoy.

Presented by not-for-profit group Sensory Souls, the aim of Sensory Santa is for children to feel safe and at ease.

Sensory Souls director Leah Keating said the Santa gave families with children with disabilities an opportunity to have a photo with Santa in a Sensory friendly environment.

“Many families with children who have Autism and other sensory-related needs find it hard to go into shopping centres to have a photo with Santa,” she said.

“When centres host a Sensory Santa session it is usually held after hours either in the mornings for two hours or in the afternoon.

“Music is off, the business of the centre is minimal, families book in a 10-minute time slot.
