TRANBY College Junior School performing arts students wowed audiences with their singing, dancing and acting talents in their recent production of The Wizard of Oz – Young Performers Edition.
The production was based on the book by L. Frank Baum.
About 64 students aged from 10 to 12 years acted out the tale of a young Dorothy Gale from Kansas who dreamed of what lies over the rainbow.
Tranby College Junior School in Baldivis runs a musical production as a part of its performing arts program every two years.
Students rehearsed for seven months in preparation for the performances.
The performances were held at the Koorliny Arts Centre in late July.
The response to the performances were positive.
“The children were amazing,” grandparent Fiona Russell-Brown said.
“When you think that the children involved were so young and yet they performed brilliantly.”
Erin Bullivant played the lead role.
“I had the time of my life being in the production,” she said.
“I learnt how much hard work has to be put in and I know it was worth it.
“My friends and I loved to practise the dances, lines, and songs.
“It showed me dreams can come true and now I hope to continue performing in the future.
“Being Dorothy and performing on stage with everyone was the best part of all.”
