CUPCAKES and a dog greeted customers at Warnbro Centre on Friday as staff celebrated RSPCA Cupcake Cake Day and raised money for animals in need.
Former RSPCA rescue dog Zedd was on hand to welcome customers and was on his best behaviour as people stopped to pat and to donate.
His owner and RSPCA animal attendant Rachel Higgs said she was happy to pound the pavement with her four-legged friend to drum up support and donations, especially considering how tough life had been for him.
“Zedd was rescued in October last year and was emaciated and beaten so I adopted him because I couldn’t let a dog like him go past,” she said.
“He’s come a long way in the year that I’ve had him and he’s a really good dog. He loves getting out at the events and representing the RSPCA… he’s stolen a few cupcakes over the past month.”
Ms Higgs said it was a heart-warming and fun way to raise money for animals in need.
Warnbro Centre marketing manager Taryn Palermo said the centre was happy to host a special guest like Zedd.
“It’s just such a wonderful cause and we thought we’d get involved and help animals that need it,” she said.
“He’s such a special animal and we couldn’t miss the opportunity to have him here and meet all our customers. Cupcakes and dogs are the best combination ever… I’m not sure (what we will raise) but whatever we get will be going straight to the RSPCA, so we’re happy with that.”
