AN excellent spell of bowling by Devon Fry (4-31) helped the second grade XI restrict Cockburn to a score of 8-198 at Kwinana last weekend.
Rob Taylor also picked up 2-37 but Kwinana was unable to capitalise on their good bowling, falling 98 runs short.
Captain Dan Bell top scored with 38.
The fourth grade XI also played Cockburn at Goodchild Reserve. Kwinana bowled first but made a slow start and after a few missed chances, allowed Cockburn to build a massive score of 9-305.
Stan Koios scored 107 for Cockburn while the pick of the Kwinana bowlers were Ethan Burger with 3-51 and Dion Cole-Parkhill with 3-54.
In reply, Kwinana was all-out for 104, David Stewart top scored with 45.
The One-Day Cs XI travelled to Buzzacott Reserve to play Kardinya Lakes and bowled first.
Tight bowling from captain Richard Bell (3-11) and Steve Atkinson (3-49) restricted Kardinya Lakes to a modest total of 157.
Kwinana was able to pass Kardinya Lakes’ total without too much trouble, finishing with and 229.
Adam Humphrey and Pete Geer both lead the way with 47.
The One-Day Fs XI took on Willetton Crows at Gilmore College Oval.
The Willetton Crows batted first, making 206. Adam Loy bowled well on his debut for the club, taking 3-33. Lee Emami scored 38 for Kwinana but the side fell 63 runs short, finishing on 9-143.
Although it wasn’t quite the start the club was looking for, the players have been training hard this week, looking to rebound for round three this weekend.
