A FUNDRAISER for Warnbro boxer Kai Stevenson will feature a visit from his hero, WBA heavyweight champion Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne.

Kai has been chosen to represent the Boxing WA State team at the National Championships in Queensland in May but needs to raise money to help fund the trip.

The 13-year-old said he was feeling both excited and nervous ahead of the competition, for which he has been tirelessly preparing.

“A lot goes into it; I train really hard,” he said.

“I train mornings and nights, all week, every week.”

The Comet Bay College student fights out of Fitness Fight Complex in Port Kennedy, with staff arranging a fundraiser, complete with a visit from Browne.

Browne, who is 24-0 in his professional boxing career, recently claimed the WBA heavyweight title after defeating Ruslan Chagaev in Chechnya earlier this year.

The fundraiser on Friday, April 29, will start at 5pm and feature a cake stall, face painting, raffle, music and exhibition bouts.
