WELLARD athlete Josh Hendrickson, who is currently playing baseball in the US, has been selected in a team to represent Australia at the Under 23 World Cup in Mexico, starting October 28.
Hendrickson (19) played for the Wembley Magpies last season before moving to the US, where he is a member of Ranger College, Texas.
He is a left-handed pitcher and represented Australia at the U18 Baseball World Cup in 2015.
Head coach Tony Harris said Hendrickson was one of the three most promising players to look out for during the tournament.
Harris said the Australians would take on the best U23 baseball players in the world.
“We’re excited to see how this team performs on the world stage,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity for some of the younger members of the team to see how they match up against the best of the best,” he said.
