WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT IT?

“Grab your broomsticks and head to platform 9 & 3/4”, commands the label on Feral Brewing Co’s latest limited release.

And after cracking one of these tinnies, you may be forgiven for thinking the brewers were trained at Hogwarts.

The Harry Potter-inspired Wingardium Luminosa IPA is a play on the “wingardium leviosa” charm used by wizards and witches in JK Rowling’s hit franchise, used to make objects fly.

The difference here is that the wizards at Feral have cast a spell of their own using luminosa, a new world hop that brings some bold flavours to the tinnie.

Luminosa roughly translates to “brilliant light” in Latin and that brightness is right throughout the beer.

The aroma contains bold mango and citrus notes, with the beer pouring a deep amber, crystal-clear hue.

Those tropical notes hit you up front when you take your first sip, along with a heap of candied orange for bitterness.

Once the tropical flavours dissipate you’re left with some softer, toasted malt notes that round out the flavour nicely.

SHOULD I SHARE IT?

With a 6.5 per cent ABV, this tinnie packs a decent punch — so while you may want to share a few with your fellow Hogwarts students, make sure you do so after the Quidditch game is finished.

WHAT’S THE DAMAGE?

Around $9.50 per tinnie.
