Stirling to implement e-scooter curfew to address community concerns

Tyler BrownPerthNow - Stirling

More restrictions have been imposed on e-scooters currently available to hire in the City of Stirling as part of a 12-month trial.

Stirling council requested the city work with Neuron Mobility to implement night-time curfews and slower speed restrictions after community concerns over safety, noise and antisocial behaviour.

This has resulted in a new late night “no start zone” from Beach Road to North Beach Road, restricting riders from starting a trip in this area between 10pm and 5am every day.

However, they can still ride through and end trips in that zone.

Mayor Mark Irwin confirmed slow speed zones were also in place in main thoroughfares such as Scarborough Beach Esplanade, Trigg Beach, Mettams Pool and Brighton Beach.

He said many of these had been in place since the start of the trial, as well as no ride and no parking zones that were clearly marked in the Neuron app.

“Since the start of the trial, the city has been working closely with Neuron to monitor and respond to issues raised by the community and we will continue to do so for the remainder of the trial,” Mr Irwin said.

“The city will be gathering feedback towards the end of the trial to ensure we capture a broad range of community sentiment.”
