THE Kongal Marawar Ngoon Boys have received the Lesley Couzens Art Fellowship and are heading off to Sydney Opera House to compete in the National Dance Rites competition.

The Fellowship was the brainchild of Mandurah MLA David Templeman and honours the life of the late Lesley Couzens who, in her time at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre supported a range of young people to develop a career in the arts.

Funds are raised through Mr Templeman’s very popular annual sell-out Christmas concert at the centre.

More than two dozen young people have so far been helped by the Fellowships, which offer financial support to young people in the Peel region who are already on a career path in the arts.
