HE’S the man who delivers presents to kids around the world in just one night, so it wasn’t surprising to see Santa keep his cool during a scaly encounter.

Two-metre python Smudge slithered through the beard of everyone’s favourite guy in red after Cailin Smith (9) and her brother Sean (7), of Mandurah, took the serpent to Mandurah Forum for a holiday snap.

“We think it’s super cool and it’s my favourite snake,” Cailin said.

“It’s also really friendly and safe to be around.”

The siblings are wild about conservation just like their father Michael, who founded Critters Conservation Centre to teach locals about fauna and flora. The centre is home to Smudge and other animals.
