THE musical We Will Rock You is all set to rock Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.
Since 2002, more than six million people in 28 countries have flocked to the production based on the songs of Queen.
It will showcase a cast of WA talent, including Jamie Mercanti aka Slim Jim, drag artist Dean Misdale aka Feminem (as Killer Queen), Blake Williams (Mix 94.5) and powerhouse Paula Parore (The Voice) playing opposite fellow The Voice alumni, husband Clay Darius.
The cast also features Ryan Dawson, who played Khashoggi in the West End production.
Arts Minister David Templeman is looking forward to seeing the world-class show and said it was exciting it was coming to Mandurah and included so much local talent.
Playwright Ben Elton, who wrote the show with Queen, was delighted it is encouraging and empowering local talent in his home state.
“I was an enthusiastic amateur actor myself when I was younger and I know that theatre arts is a hugely positive force in any community,” he said.
“It’s amazing how much unsung talent is out there and I’m very proud that this show is providing an opportunity for so many brilliant West Australians to rock.’’
Producers Trevor and Katrina Patient, of Platinum Entertainment WA, said they were thrilled to showcase local Mandurah dance and choral talent in the production.
Choir manager and Mandurah resident David Major has handpicked more than 30 singers from Port Kennedy, Rockingham and Mandurah to support the principal cast at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.
