ALCOA of Australia continues to invest in regaining, training and promoting women in its workplace with 27 talented women graduating from the inaugural Women in Operations (WIO) program.

The 16-month program includes personal development, networking with leaders, external training and mentoring, with the aim of retaining top female talent to take on operational and leadership roles.

General manager WA Alumina and program sponsor Simon Pascoe said diversity had been shown to improve safety, production, innovation and bottom line results and the program was one way in which the company could develop diverse teams and inclusive leaders.

“I’m looking forward to watching and supporting these women to move upwards in our operations,’’ he said.
