The redevelopment project, funded by the Department of Housing, will provide stability for young people in need of support and accommodation while completing Fairbridge training programs, traineeships or apprenticeships.

Mr Marmion also announced $500,000 funding to renovate Evelyn Cottage through Royalties for Regions.

Fairbridge has an ongoing commitment to provide wraparound support and services in all areas of a young person’s life.

The opening of the cottage is a big step forward in enabling Fairbridge to help provide stability and remove some of the barriers to learning.

The renovations were completed as the latest training project by the Fairbridge Aboriginal Building and Construction Initiative under the guidance of Fairbridge builder-trainer Marty Rawlinson. The cottage has eight beds, brightened with quilts donated by Pinjarra Patchwork and Quilting Club.
